I don't think I had been to a networking event since I was barely pregnant with Boone.  Between feeling awful during pregnancy and having about zero extra time with a newborn and then toddler, attending events had to go to the back burner for awhile.

When Amy - owner of WOW Factor Cakes - asked me if I would be willing to shoot this event to celebrate the launch of her new shop, I said yes immediately.  I considered it a real honor to be asked by one of the best in Charlotte to photograph this next step in her business.  Truly, Amy is a true artist - her cakes are BOTH creative and great tasting.

The opening event was perfect - great weather, great company, great decor, and great cake!  Many thanks to the following for making the evening what it was:

Invitations - Lily Bell
Linens - Party Tables
Hair and Make-up for the WOW Factor Team - Who's the Fairest

The day before Katrina's wedding, her friend - Kristen Cone who owns her own interior decorating business (Kristen Cone Interiors) - planned and hosted a gorgeous bridal luncheon for her.  My jaw straight dropped once I caught sight of what I would be photographing.

An English tea theme was only appropriate given the day - Friday, April 29 - the day of The Royal Wedding.  Love it.  :)

Caterer - La Tea Da's
Florals - The Bloom Room

HOLY MOLY. That is the most gorgeous thing I have ever seen! I've never even seen some of those flowers before, nor some of those details. Most weddings I see are someone doing their own version or attempt at something from a magazine and many of those details were completely new to me. How exciting that must have been. That is sure to be in a thousand magazines and on all the blogs. Go all of you for incredible design, beautiful photography, and lovely women!

I first heard of Mitey Riders through my former intern and current designer Erica Anne of The Summerhouse.  She has been heavily involved in this awesome program for some time now.

It was until the other day when I viewed Mitey Riders: A Documentary (created by my RIDICULOUSLY talented friend Jared Hogan) that I truly was able to understand what Mitey Riders was all about.  I sat there with Geoff...tears spilling out of the corner of my eyes....to watch this beautiful film.

You should watch it too.

Disclaimer: at this point in our business we are not offering family/baby related photography, but would be happy to refer you to some other photographers in the area who are!  :)

____________________________________________________________________________

Shortly after Boone was born (or maybe it was before?  I can't remember - everything is kind of a blur at this point) we contacted our friends Candice and Daniel of The Beautiful Mess to see if they might be interested in swapping sessions of each other's families.  Lucky us - they said yes!  :)  You can see our session on their blog HERE.

A few weeks ago, it was our turn to photograph the Lannings and their adorable baby girl - Stevie (you can see some hospital pics of Stevie's delivery HERE).  And truly, what a joy it was to watch our friend's cuddle up with and care for their new daughter.  I know without a doubt in my mind that these two are going to be incredible parents to her.  Geoff and I are blessed to be able to raise our Boone alongside this awesome family.

Love you guys to pieces.  xoxo.

Oh - and how much do you love Dan's "rad dad" t-shirt?!

LanningFamilyPics_0002.jpgLanningFamilyPics_0003.jpgLanningFamilyPics_0004.jpgLanningFamilyPics_0005.jpgCandice and Daniel had received this onesie that reminded them of Orbit gum as a gift.  This picture was definitely in order.

LanningFamilyPics_0006.jpgLanningFamilyPics_0007.jpgThese were shot in Stevie's nursery!  Lucky girl.

LanningFamilyPics_0008.jpgThis next shot was taken by shooting into one of the lined heart mirrors on the wall - it may have been the idea of a certain husband of mine....just maybe.  :)

LanningFamilyPics_0009.jpgLove this.  :)  We just barely caught this beautiful light in their front yard before it sunk behind the houses.

LanningFamilyPics_0010.jpgLanningFamilyPics_0011.jpgLanningFamilyPics_0012.jpgDads and babies.

LanningFamilyPics_0013.jpgGeoff managed this shot of all six of us with the 35mm lens - I was impressed.  Of course, my kid is having a breakdown.  :)

(12.09.10 @ 04:51 PM)

StevieBirth01.jpg
What an incredible honor it was to be there for Stevie's birth day.

It was totally surreal to watch our friends Candice and Daniel Lanning become parents for the first time.  I mean, I watched them through their pregnancy get closer and closer to their baby girl's arrival, but it didn't become really real that they were having a baby until this past Sunday afternoon.

I was completely overcome with emotion...it was hard not to be as I watched Daniel comfort his wife as she labored...he was truly a wonderful coach to her.  And, I was in total awe of Candice's strength and bravery through her labor and birth.  So proud of you, Candice!

Stevie is as precious and as cute as they come.  I just couldn't get over how TINY she felt in my arms!  Seriously, Boone feels like a tank compared to her.  :)

Congratulations, Lannings!  Thank you for allowing me to share in this incredibly special moment of your lives.  Love you guys.  :)
