Hello and Happy Thursday.  It is, indeed, a happy Thursday.  So far:

- I've slept in a bit (until 8:10am)....many thanks to my husband for taking care of Boone before he left for work!
- Had coffee with friends at the park (with four babies - one of which is in utero...not mine)
- Gotten going on the mass pile that is the laundry
- Finished up editing a bridal portrait....here's a quick little preview:

And, I managed to clean off my disaster of a dining room table so I can set up my laptop to write out this blog post.  Great day.....great day.  :)

____________________________________________________________________________

The past few months I've been saying how I have been wanting to do a "check-in" with where things have stacked up with my 2011 goals.  Obviously, that never happened.

After a quick review, I think it is safe to say I'm going to come up short in quite a few areas related to business and home life.  So, today, as my baby naps in the next room, I wanted to take a few minutes to make a realistic plan for the next 2 months of what from the 2011 goals list I want to accomplish.

For the rest of October, which is only a matter of days (are you serious?!), I plan to take it pretty easy with my boys (and 2 dog girls).  We've just come off of shooting 7 in a row weddings and are glad for a Saturday off before we shoot 3 more in November.  So, this weekend I plan to:

1.  Get my haircut (bangs...I'm getting bangs.  There, I've said it, so I can't chicken out).
2.  Blog a few pictures from our trip to the pumpkin patch and our trip to the zoo.
3.  Shoot a few pictures of Boone in his Halloween costume.
4.  Take a morning walk to Starbucks to enjoy some pumpkin amazingness.
5.  Pray a lot for a big decision that is upon us.
6.  Take a trip to IKEA.
7.  Go on a triple date with friends.
8.  Continue our "branding refresh" discussions.

In the month of November, I would like to accomplish the following:

1.  Finish up the albums that are currently in progress before the Christmas cut-off date.
2.  Attend ladies night for the staff and spouses of our church.
3.  Shoot the opening event for Polka Dot Bake Shop.
4.  Attend this workshop.
5.  Complete our "branding refresh".
6.  Take a big risk into something we've never done before (I can't share details of what this is quite yet).
7.  Have Geoff design and order a new sample sign-in guestbook.
8.  Read a book over Thanksgiving (either Redeeming Love or Fast Track Photographer)
9.  Decorate our house for Christmas (don't worry - this won't happen until the day after Thanksgiving :) ).
10.  Attend bootcamp at least three days a week.

In December, the plan is:

1.  Shoot some great stuff for our Christmas Eve experiences at our church.
2.  Do as much editing as possible to go into 2012 with as clean as slate as possible (this is a long shot).
3.  Enjoy the Christmas season!  (This is sure to include watching lots of Christmas movies and eating lots of Christmas cookies :) ).

Here we go!

And p.s. - fall is going much to quickly, wouldn't you agree?! :(
Annie Broom says:

Cutting to the chase - my goals for the remainder of the month:

1.  Lose five pounds.  I mean it this time - I'm buckling down and it's going to happen.

2.  Get our town home in ship shape again for our tenants.  Confused about what I'm talking about?  Check it HERE.

3.  Shoot the WOW Factor Cakes new shop opening event.

4.  Spend a day at Grove Park Inn Spa in Asheville.  YES.  It's happening.  :)

5.  Mid-year follow up on 2011 goals.  Yep - still need to do this.

6.  Get a haircut....and cut some bangs!  Now it's blogged....so, I have to go through with it.  :)

Blogging my monthly goals late has just become a bad habit.  Oh well.

Here's how I did for July:

1.  Lose five pounds.  I did this, but then have already gained a few back.  So this one's going back on for August.

2.  Get lawn care set up.  Done!  Our yard is looking great!

3.  Mid-year follow up on 2011 goals.  Didn't do this, but still want to.  Will do in August.

4.  Baby proof the house.  Semi-done.  Had to wait to order magnetic latches.  The regular one's were threatening to split the cabinet wood when we tried to install them.

5.  Date night.  Done!  Super fun - dinner and a movie.

6.  Email my butt off.  Yes...always.

Here's my August goals:

1.  Lose five pounds.

2.  Mid-year follow up on 2011 goals.

3.  Finish baby proofing the house.

4.  Another date...would love to do this monthly.  Hopefully happening this weekend.  Anyone have any fun ideas for dates?

5.  Finish our new pricing information guide.  Excited for this project.  It's just super tedious.

6.  Celebrate our Boone's FIRST BIRTHDAY (8/24).  We've decided to not have a party (which I'm trying not to feel guilty about), but will definitely be giving him a party hat and his own cake to smash into...as well as will be singing to him and taking a bunch of cute pictures.  Geoff is hoping to take the day off from work so the three of us can go out and do something fun together.  Can't believe it's been a whole year already!

7.  Shoot hundreds of people getting baptized at our church.  I shot this past weekend and will do it again this coming...can't wait.  :)

8.  Have our pictures taken.  Yes....AGAIN.  Our friend's Kristen and Aaron Byrum are raising money for a mission trip by doing photo shoots, so we wanted to support them.  Looking forward to getting in front of their camera!

____________________________________________________________________________

One other accomplishment that wasn't listed formally as a goal was to get an updated sample album.  Our size huge sample was from a wedding I second shot in spring of 2008.  I would cringe anytime a prospective client would look through it!  Here's an iPhone pic of the new beast (12x16...it's huge).

No, I did not have any formal goals for May.  Wedding season is here and it is kicking my butt.  Even so, I'm back on the goal train for June.

Here's the game plan for the month.

1.  Celebrate Geoff's 28th birthday (tomorrow!) and our 4th anniversary (Thursday!).  I'm excited.

2.  Lose five pounds.  The good news is....I'm only a few pounds from my pre-baby weight.

3.  Buy 2 new lenses.  We're thinking the 35 1.4 (we already have one of these, but I hog it most always...Geoff is dying for one) and the 100 2.8 macro.

4.  Shoot promo pics for the band at our church.  I did this yesterday and man...did it stretch me.  There were over 30 people to shoot all together.

5.  Have OUR pictures taken.  Next Friday Geoff and I are swapping shoots with Nancy and Will Ray and then the following Friday, the fabulous Sassyfras Studios will be shooting some family pics for us.  :) Excited for both.

6.  And of course, edit and email my butt off.  But that's nothing new.

BooneMarchpics_0004.jpg

Oh, how I wish I had more time to blog.

February was a complete whirlwind....Boone was sick most of the month AND we managed to move into a new house.  Let me tell you - packing, moving and unpacking (which is only about 35% done) with a six month old.....not to mention, a SICK six month old....is no joke.  I'm tired just talking about it.

Obviously, I'm way late in posting my March goals.  Oh well...I'm okay with it.

________________________________________________________________

And so, here is where I landed for February:

 1.  Complete outstanding editing. More or less, this was completed.

2.  Keep my inbox down to 10 or fewer emails before going to sleep at night.  HA!  I probably accomplished this 5 times out of the month.  It was a nice idea.

3.  Move into our new place.  Done.

4.  Secure Boone's nanny.  This has proven to be much more difficult than I thought.  We're still looking.

5.  Start Boone's baby book.  I feel like a terrible mother.....

6.  Buy our plane tickets for our trip to California in April.  Done...can't wait for a visit.

Here's the game plan for the remaining weeks I have in March:

1.  Completely finish unpacking.

2.  Hit up my new neighborhood for a power walk (with Boone in tow, of course) at least three times a week.

3.  Get all info needed to our accountant for our taxes.  Ugh....this is a tall order.

4.  Finish reading Eclipse.  I read about 1/2 a chapter a night before I go to sleep, so it is taking me forever.

5.  Plan our mini-vacay while in California for my 30th birthday.  Yes....30.  I'll refrain from any further comments in effort to not be dramatic about this fact.

_________________________________________________________________

And I'm sorry.....but is my kid a nut, or what?  Love this boy.  :)

CHEY!!! Boone is ttttoooooooo cute!!!! That smile can just melt your heart!!! Don't feel bad about the whole baby book thing... just keep taking pictures and keeping them filed... you'll find time "someday" to put it all together... well, I tell you this hopefully since my oldest is still only 4-months-old in his baby book (he'll be 6 in two weeks) and my little man (now 4) has his name on the cover of his book! :D

(03.08.11 @ 08:31 PM)

Two great things about March....(1)cold & flu season will end which should give our babies a break and (2)the time change on Sunday will give us another hour of daylight in the evening which gives more time for power walks. Better days ahead friend! :)
