PalmerBuildingWedding_CarolineZach__0002.jpg
The girls were all smiles when we arrived to begin shooting Caroline and Zach's wedding day.
It was mildly chilly, but for a late November wedding, the weather was near perfect.  Seeing as the ceremony start time was after sunset, I was SO glad when Caroline told me she and Zach wanted to do a first look.  This allowed us to have plenty of time to take advantage of photographing the two of them together in the gorgeous, soft light of late afternoon/early evening.

Caroline and Zach are easy going, SO genuine and very much in love - it was an absolute joy to be a part of their day.  :)

CharlotteWeddingPhotographer_IzzyLaneEpics__0001.jpg
When Izzy and Lane told me via their engagement questionnaire that they like go antiquing together for fun, a lightbulb went on in my head.  After I mentioned shooting their session at an antique mall, she wrote back and told me that she literally squealed at the idea.  Jackpot!

Geoff and I had a ball running around with them.  It was so fun to sift through the aisles looking for fun props to incorporate or a cool mirror to shoot into.  I absolutely love their style and I love their love for one another.  I wish they lived in Charlotte so we could be regular friends!  :)

CodeOrangeRevival_Baptisms__0001.jpg
Last night I had the privilege of shooting night #7 of the Code Orange Revival.  This time I was at our Matthews location, which was the location we baptized over 200 people.  Here  are a few of my favorites from the evening.

Tamera Ford says:

These are great! We have been watching the revival. I can’t help but get all teary every time I watch the baptisms. The BW shot of the girl coming up out of the water is perfect. Love what God is doing!

(01.18.12 @ 05:03 PM)
Cheyenne Schultz says:

Thanks, Hayley. :) The first shot is actually of the rain outside - I just shot into the light in the parking lot and cropped it.

- It's 11:07am and I have yet to eat my breakfast (my weekday breakfast is a bowl of Cheerios - weekend breakfast is a whole other story that involves a lot of bacon).

- Yesterday Geoff had the day off from work.  After seeing an instagram of sweet Stevie at Monkey Joe's, I couldn't wait to take Boone.  And let me tell you, this child LOVED it.  The first time we sent him down the big slide he had a look of sheer terror on his face.  But, once he was at the bottom, his big, toothy, dimpled smile came out and he couldn't wait to go down it again.  He is so cute I don't know what to do with myself!

- I am really looking forward to having our friends and fellow photographers Nancy and Will Ray stay with us for a couple days over this weekend.  I prepped Nancy for what their stay at our home will look like - it includes dog hair, a crazy almost-17-month-old running and shrieking (and sometimes STREAKING) around, a small futon for them to sleep on that is stashed in our office, and dog hair....a lot of dog hair.

- Night #7 of Code Orange Revival is tonight - Pastor Perry Noble of Newspring Church (where I used to go when I lived as a South Carolinian for a year).  If you can't get yourself there, I highly recommend you watch online.

- Somehow, my inbox made it to 50+ emails last week and I can't manage to get it below that.  Today, I'm going to try my best to hack through a good bit of it.

- I just finished culling through the wedding we shot this past Saturday - our first wedding of twenty-twelve!  The shot below was taken on top of a parking garage.  The "before" image looks quite different from the finished one...20 minutes of photoshop on this guy and voila!  :)

MelissaJustinWeddingPreview_0001.jpg
And now, it's Cheerio time.
Emily says:

How fun that Nancy and Will Ray will be coming to Charlotte for a visit! I just wanted to share that you and Nancy are two of my favorite bloggers to follow. Thanks so much for the constant inspiration to be a stonger Christian, stronger woman, and to discern my gifts and talents so that I might share them with others. Congrats on shooting another beautiful wedding!

(01.17.12 @ 11:44 AM)
Dan Lanning says:

Boone and Stevie need to have a play date at Monkey Joe's soon! I think we will be making that a weekly outing!

(01.17.12 @ 12:02 PM)
Cheyenne Schultz says:

dan - we were saying the same thing! it's so cheap too!

(01.17.12 @ 12:04 PM)
Julie Stepp says:

I WANNA SEE NANCY!

(01.17.12 @ 06:45 PM)
Tiffany Q. says:

I am so glad that I am not the only person who has to warn my guests about dog hair! It's a never ending battle at my house- I don't think I've had an outfit in the last almost 6 years that was accessorized with at least a lil' bit of dog hair! :)

(01.17.12 @ 08:58 PM)
Rhys says:

Hey Cheyenne, love your site! Your shots are so creative and professional, thanks so much for sharing them on here so regularly. I'm trying to grow more as a photographer here in New Zealand and it's a real inspiration seeing the kind of photos I'd love to take one day! Thanks again.

Cherrios is my breakie of choice too :) And the 20 min of PS ... totally worth it !!! What a stunning image.

As mentioned, this past November we signed a lease for our first ever studio space.   Of course, we are very excited.  And of COURSE, I am driving myself crazy (not to mention, wasting valuable time) trying to decide on which canvases I'd like to have printed for our walls.

Late last week I consulted with some friends and colleagues to get their two cents on which they thought would look best.  I gave them NINE options.  And so, I have narrowed it down further to three and thought it would be fun to take to the blog to get our readers to weigh in.

Below are the three options, including a mock-up with what the images will look like on the actual wallls (please don't judge me for my half eaten lunch and starbucks on the coffee table!).  Now, go cast your vote by leaving a comment with your favorite - #1, #2 or #3!

Thanks in advance, friends....I SO appreciate it!  :)

#1 - NUMBER ONE!

Wall_0001b.jpgStudio_frames_final_1_a.jpg
#2 - NUMBER TWO!

Wall_0002b.jpgStudio_frames_final_2_a.jpg
#3 - NUMBER THREE!

Wall_0004.jpgStudio_frames_final_4_a.jpg

heather says:

LOVE number 3, as the colors seem to blend with your furniture, lighting and decor better than the others (in my mind), but if you are going for a splash of color - than # 2 is the way to go!

(01.16.12 @ 01:05 PM)
Kathryn Peacock says:

I vote for #2 :)

(01.16.12 @ 01:05 PM)
Cyn says:

Oh! All so beautiful! My favorite is #1, followed by Option # 3. Congratulations on the new studio!!

(01.16.12 @ 01:05 PM)
Trinette says:

I love #2 - the tree adds a lot of color and a natural element. It shows your range much more - from modern/urban to a more rustic/country look. You do it all - so I think you should show it all! :) Best of luck on this exciting new venture!!

(01.16.12 @ 01:05 PM)
Melissa says:

tara says:

#1...the colors flow and i LOVE IT!!! ;)

(01.16.12 @ 01:18 PM)
Becky says:

Out of these 3 as they sit. #1 looks the prettiest and they meld together in the space the nicest, IMO! That said, if you replaced the 1st pic in #3 and added something with darker tones....that would look super nice too. I think the darker pics are a nice contrast with the walls and furniture.

(01.16.12 @ 01:20 PM)
Erika Melson says:

Love #3!!! :)

(01.16.12 @ 01:21 PM)
Jenna says:

number two.

(01.16.12 @ 01:42 PM)
Rae says:

#3, definitely!

(01.16.12 @ 01:54 PM)
Kristen Cone says:

I think I like 3 :) but maybe switch the vertical on the right (barn) with vertical on the right from the first option (clouds) . OR maybe you can lighten the one with the barn so its not so dark? On option 3, the left side is lighter while the right side is darker. Need some contrast on the right side!

(01.16.12 @ 01:57 PM)
Mary Sheedy says:

#3, I LOVE #3. The space looks super, and I think I want to spend the rest of my life on that couch!

(01.16.12 @ 02:02 PM)
Elizabeth whisennant says:

I like number one, because the colors have the most natural flow.

(01.16.12 @ 02:06 PM)

Heather Carroll says:

#3 :) Love the colors

(01.16.12 @ 02:25 PM)
Sarah Bradley says:

I love #1! I think it just flows from left to right, how the eye naturally goes and no color is jarring. Each side has complimentary colors so your eye isn't immediately drawn to one side but rather the whole wall. Beautiful! I can't wait to see more of the space.

(01.16.12 @ 02:33 PM)
Paige Jones says:

I see a lot of 2's and 3's in the comments...but I think #1 shows of your style best, with the negative space, and the dreamy sunlight :)))

(01.16.12 @ 02:33 PM)
Anne-Laure says:

(01.16.12 @ 03:13 PM)
I'm Kristen says:

Obviously they are all beautiful. And I may like certain pictures in sets two and three better,

BUT,

set one looks like a concentration in art school, or a display piece in an art gallery. The four images are not just gorgeous on their own but they also just look SO sharp and inspiring as a set! Plus, it looks like your company, your brand. The first one seems the most "The Schultzes" to me. But that's just me ;)

(01.16.12 @ 03:16 PM)
Leah Anderson says:

I like #1 as a set the best. But I have to say I LOVE the tree in the second set. It is glorious.

(01.16.12 @ 03:28 PM)
Kelli Sheeler says:

#1 …. they all look beautiful but that is my pick!

(01.16.12 @ 03:41 PM)

(01.16.12 @ 04:03 PM)

(01.16.12 @ 04:10 PM)
Tamera Ford says:

1 or 3 but like the way the colors flow in 1!

Steph says:

#2, all the way!!!

#1 looks the best!

(01.16.12 @ 08:39 PM)
Becky says:

I vote for #1!

(01.16.12 @ 08:41 PM)
Maryann and Ed says:

#3 because our opinion matters most. :) Seriously, #3 because the colors in those photos blend well in the space. #1 would be our second choice. The tree photo in #2 is gorgeous, but it sticks out like a sore thumb in the layout. Loves and good luck! So proud of y'all.

(01.16.12 @ 08:46 PM)
Lynn says:

I like #1 because it seems the most visually balanced w/ the photographs. Overall, very nice and enjoy each one so you'll be a winner no matter what!

(01.16.12 @ 09:01 PM)
Kasey Loftin says:

Love number one and the new space!

(01.16.12 @ 09:20 PM)
Amy says:

#2 or #3!

(01.16.12 @ 09:28 PM)
Kelly Schultz says:

# 3!!!! I think it shows the best range. You've got color, you've got texture, you've got intimacy, you've got open spaces. I think it best shows the variety, your range, and how you like to play with light, texture, space, etc. while also highlighting each individual's personality.

(01.16.12 @ 10:06 PM)

Carly Brantmeyer says:

Definitely #2, followed by #1. I felt the strongest emotions tied to it, such a beautiful way to bring in the outdoors. #1 is nice, but softer and does feel the most symmetrically balanced. #3 feels a little dark heavy on the right side's arrangement. But whatever you select, it will undoubtedly look stunning :) Thanks again for today, Cheyenne!!

#1 Its current and all four coordinate beautifully. When I think of your work, I always think of how sunny, natural and easy it is. I think these show that well. I can imagine how hard it must be for you to pick between your shots when everything you do is so good :)

Well, I think they are all great. I cant decide! (maybe #1?) But what I can decide on is the fact that I want to lay on that couch and talk to you and drink Starbees all day long. I LOVE your office space-- so welcoming, so homey, and so comfortable! This is so great!

I am a fan of # 3 especially for a studio because i think on either side of the window it shows two different styles you are able to achieve. Your work can be light and whimsical like the left but also very rich in color like the right side! Good luck, it looks beautiful!
